As one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the nation, Thomas Jefferson University has, since its founding as the Jefferson Medical College in 1824, emphasized the attainment of clinical excellence in its educational programs. A recent significant expansion of the research programs has created a balanced institutional mission and has enhanced the clinical instruction at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and its 17 affiliated hospitals.
The medical school is proud to be situated near the most historic square mile in America. The campus is 13 square acres in the heart of Center City Philadelphia.
