Creighton University is a Jesuit, Roman Catholic university located in Omaha, Nebraska. The university was founded as Creighton College in 1878 through a gift from Mary Lucretia Creighton who stipulated in her will that a school be established in memory of her husband, prominent Omaha businessman Edward Creighton. Edward's brother John, along with his wife, Sara, is credited with fostering and sustaining the University's early growth, and enlarging its endowment.

Sitting on a 120-acre campus just outside Omaha's downtown business district, the university currently enrolls about 6,992 students. Creighton is one of 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

Saint Joseph Hospital at Creighton University Medical Center (CUMC) is a hospital located in north Omaha, Nebraska, USA. It is currently operated by Tenet Healthcare but owned by Creighton University.

The hospital was founded on September 25, 1870 by the Sisters of Mercy. In 1880, the Sisters of St. Francis took over management of the hospital. The Hospital has gone through several name changes beginning as Creighton Memorial, Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Joseph Hospital at Creighton University Medical Center then now called Creighton University Medical Center.
