Founded in 1839, Albany Medical College is one of the oldest medical schools in the country and one of the largest teaching hospitals in New York State. The college is coeducational, nondenominational, and privately supported. The college and the 650-bed Albany Medical Center Hospital comprise Albany Medical Center. Patient care, from primary to tertiary, is provided for over 2.5 million residents of eastern New York and western New England.
