Stony Brook University's School of Medicine accepted its first class in 1971. It is part of the Stony Brook University Medical, which includes the 540-bed University Hospital.
Stony Brook University and the School of Medicine are located 60 miles east of NYC on the north shore of Long Island. The campus is surrounded by a picutresque and historic community. The campus provides a wide spectrum of activities ranging from NCAA Division 1 Sporting events to professional theatre and fine arts. Students can participate in a wide range of intramural athletic activities. The clinical campus includes Stony Brook University Hospital and three affiliates.
