Description: The Boonshoft School of Medicine is a community-based medical school. Clinical facilities include six major teaching hospitals with over 3,500 patient beds. A faculty of over 1,000 provides students with opportunities for individualized attention. The educational program emphasizes research, generalist training, community health care, community service, patient focused care, cultural competence, cultural diversity, health promotion, disease prevention, and the provision of care to underserved populations.
The first two years are spent primarily on the main campus in Fairborn, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. The bucolic campus occupies 250-acres, with over half devoted to wooded acreage and preserve. Dayton is a mid-sized city within a metropolitan area of nearly one million residents.
